What is a JT file?

JT is a lightweight 3D product-data format used for visualisation, collaboration and manufacturing data exchange.

Are JT files uploaded to a server?

No. This viewer processes the selected JT file locally in your browser; the file is not uploaded by the viewer.

Can JT contain assemblies and PMI?

Yes. JT can represent parts, assemblies and sub-assemblies, and it can carry product and manufacturing information. The available content depends on how the source file was authored.

Which JT versions does the viewer support?

The viewer has been tested with JT 8.0, JT 8.1 and JT 10.6 samples. Results still depend on the compression, tessellation, precise geometry and product-structure encodings used by each file.

Why can a valid JT file show no 3D geometry?

Some JT files contain product structure or precise B-Rep data without a supported tessellated Shape LOD. The viewer can still report the file structure, but it will not invent display geometry.

Can I measure in metric and imperial units?

Yes. Supported tessellated models can be measured in millimetres or inches, and persistent dimensions remain visible in exported screenshots.

Can a JT file be exported to STL?

Yes, when the JT file contains supported tessellated geometry. Precise-only files without usable mesh data cannot be exported reliably as STL by this browser viewer.
